A couple of years ago I was amazed to learn that intimacy with Jesus is not only possible for every Christian, but it is Jesus' great wish for us that we would "come to Him" and receive "life" (John 5:39-40).
After coming to know that the spiritual world is real (John 4:24). After being Christian for decades. After knowing that I belong to Jesus and being fully committed to Him. After receiving and being empowered to use spiritual gifts (Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12 and 14). After receiving healings and seeing many miracles from Jesus (Matthew 8:16). After encountering Him many times, encountering the living God of all creation, I realised that what was missing with me was intimate time and companionship with Him, my lover, my Saviour, my Lord, my Jesus (Song of Songs 2:2-6).
So I began to put time aside and call to Him. "Jesus" I would whisper as I sat in our garden, "I've done my work, I have some free time, will you come and be with me? Please come".
He came. Now Jesus often comes to be with me. Usually nothing much gets said; we do not work at solving the problems of the world, or even of my family or my life. This is our time. My wife Trish and I set aside time for "dates" and simply "be" together, this is wonderful and very good for our relationship and our family. So with Jesus, my bridegroom. We walk together by the river, we sit together. He will come up to me unexpectedly, give me a hug or touch my arm, and He's gone; but for that moment He is there, just with me, my Jesus, and I absolutely know that I am His beloved. This has changed my life. My faith is becoming boundless. Praise Jesus.
Amen.
